Direct Impact of Nuclear Generation on GHE Gases Emissions in Brazil The bal_eec Program – User’s Manual Contained Carbon, Equivalent and Final Energy Auctions of New Energy: Vectors of Offer and Demand Crisis or Adjustment
|
Text for Discussion: Direct Impact of Nuclear Generation on Carlos Feu Alvim, Frida Eidelman, Olga Mafra, Omar Campos Fereira and Rafael Macêdo Nuclear energy generation does not directly emit greenhouse effect (GHE) gases. The evaluation of direct impact was made considering that it is inserted in the thermal complementation necessary for the Brazilian electric system. Options regarding the indirect emissions calculations are presented. Program Description: The bal_eec Program – User’s Manual Contained Carbon, Equivalent and Final Energy The utilization of the bal_eec program is described. It is a computer program that generates spreadsheets and graphics of carbon balance, equivalent and final energy as well as greenhouse effect gases emissions. A test version is available at http://ecen.com/eee62/eee62p/ecen_62p.htm Text for Discussion / Opinion: Vectors of Offer and Demand Crisis or Adjustment Nivalde J. de Castro and Daniel Bueno The situation before the new energy auctions scheduled for July 2007 is analyzed. Data regarding offer of undertakings for these two next auctions indicated predominance of non renewable thermal plants that emit greenhouse effect gases and with higher tariffs. The auctions’ profile reflects the environmental legislation that has not yet been assimilated by society as well as the delay concerning the hydroelectric potential of the hydrological basins.
