2.3. Emissions by Energy Source Running the program is simple. It works as an Excel spreadsheet with macros written in Visual Basic. It can be downloaded from the Internet and installed in any directory after being unzipped. The macros must be activated. Transfer the benemis_e program from the CD to any archive or run it directly from the CD. On the Program’s Cover shown in Figure A1.1 it is possible to choose the languague options (English or Portuguese), go to the Program’s Map or go directly to the three Emissions options – by Year, by Energy Source or by Account, as well as to opt for excluding or not CO2 from biomass.
Figure A1.1 : benemis_e Program’s Cover The Program’s Map allows for initiating and calculating the program, going directecly to one of the three Emission options – by Year, by Energy Source or by Account as well as accessing the different tables and graphics for each option regarding emissions, as shown in Figure A1.2.
Figure A1.2: benemis-e Program’s Map · Choose the version in the desired language (English/Portuguese) · Choose the exclusion or not of CO2 from biomass · Start and calculate. This is necessary only when the desired language is changed, when the CO2 exclusion or not is changed or when there is any doubt or mistake regarding changes in the selected data during the execution of the program. Obs.: Changing the language, excluding or not CO2 from biomass and the subsequent calculation can be carried out in each specific spreadsheet. · Click on Program’s Map or Emissions by Year, Emissions by Energy Source or Emissions by Account. · Click on one the Emission options (Emissions by Year/Emissions by Energy Source/Emissions by Account) or · Click on any other desired option (yellow or mustard)
It shows the emission for the chosen year and gas. It also includes the Energy option that produces data from BEN/MME. This option has the following windows: a) Year: from 1970 to 2001; b) Gas: CO2, CO, CH4, N2O, NOx, NMVOCS, as well as Energy; · Select the desired year and gas (or Energy) in the appropriate window. The Program produces the corresponding tables and graphics. Tables can be: Table/Summary, Table of Selected Data e Tables of Transformatio.
